Conference Operations Assistants (2 positions)
$8.40/hour plus housing in Williams College dorm and lunch five days per week
* Schedule: 32-40 hrs/week, rotating schedule, weekend and evening hours required as needed.
Operations Assistants deliver conference services, mainly carrying out the day-to-day dining, housing, and facility requirements of the conferences and events.
This physically demanding position requires driving large College vehicles and the ability to lift 40 pounds daily. This work includes, but is not limited to: preparing dormitories for guests (rearranging beds, plugging in telephones, setting up offices, etc.); arranging furniture in meeting rooms; assisting with set up and operation of audio/visual equipment and computers, helping clients connect to Williams wireless (training provided); setting up coffee breaks and simple picnics; delivering mail, linens and ice to dormitories; taking and relaying messages; and other responsibilities as directed.
As customer service professionals, Ops Assistants act as liaisons between conference directors and our office by preparing work orders, making welcome packets, assisting at registration, and distributing guest satisfaction surveys.
Strong teamwork/leadership experience in customer service very important. Hiring preference will be given to current Williams students who are financial aid recipients.
Front Desk Clerks (2 positions)
$8.40/hour plus housing in Williams College dorm and lunch five days per week
* Schedule: 32-40 hrs/week, rotating schedule, weekend and evening hours as needed.
Front Desk Assistants provide registration services pertaining to summer conferences including: housing assignments and data entry; preparing conferee rooming/key packets; assisting with guest check-in and check-out; answering phone requests; and renting items such as phones, fans and clock radios.
This position requires the ability to multi-task and maintain detailed records for ID cards & keys, parking information and billing; communicate dependably with the entire office team; and answer the main conference phone lines.
Strong customer service, communication, computer and organizational skills are necessary. Workloads in other Conferences & Events office areas often require front desk staff to pitch in with operations assignments, so this job can also be physically demanding. Hiring preference will be given to current Williams students who are financial aid recipients.
* Staff who live in Williams College housing have an on-call schedule in the evenings on a rotating basis. This involves carrying the on-call cell phone through the night (and answering it when it rings!); answering questions when the Conferences & Events office is closed; troubleshooting problems; and performing early-morning, late-evening work duties.
Temporary Jobs
$8.00/hour. Schedule: Temporary (generally on-call jobs are available between June 13 – August 10) Hours and days vary and are only scheduled as needed.
Work includes: baggage carrying; van driving (requires valid driver’s license and Williams College van license from the Facilities Department); equipment moving; food /beverage breaks and event-specific deliveries/set ups. Highly responsible individuals with flexible summer schedules should apply.
Minimum age: 18. Hiring preference will be given to current Williams College students who are financial aid recipients.
